I had previously used an Oster which wore out and a Breadman which failed. After a year's use, I liked the Zo so well I gave one to my 88 year-old mother. I use mine almost exclusively for 100 percent whole wheat bread, usually baking two loaves a week. The Zo produces a good loaf and the pan stands up well to the abrasive nature of the flour. The non-stick coating wore off the Breadman pan. Regards. So I'm looking for advise on a new machine. It's probably between the Zoji or the Breadman 2200C, both horizonal loaf machines. Does anyone have a machine that is currently being made that they just love? I wouldn't mind a new vertical loaf machine if someone still makes one. How can I make those rolls at home with a bread machine? I never know know what to do when the recipe says 1 cup of butter. Pls help. I generally knead in the machine and then bake in my oven; both because I like longer rising times and not having the paddle holes in the bottom of my bread. I used it for baking, too, for a long time, and it does a good job. It kneads beautifully, is not hard to program, and doesn't overheat the dough while mixing. I like mine a lot. The staff at KA Flour says they test a lot of machines and they prefer the Zo, too. Several years ago, my husband wanted to give me a $250 Zo bread machine and I just couldn't justify paying that much money for something that I didn't need. I already owned what I considered the "ultimate bread machine" - my Kitchenaid mixer. However, we later found a Breadman Ultimate on sale for $89.99, which we did buy. I make at least one loaf of bread each week, sometimes two or three (there are only two of us). I can't imagine what the Zo has to offer that my Breadman doesn't. I've read negative comments regarding the Breadman Ultimate on this List; however, I have always had great results and have no complaints whatsoever. If my Breadman Ultimate died today, I would buy another one tomorrow. That's my two cents worth, now good luck in your quest for recommendations. I hated the DAK (they stopped making bread machines and were bought out by Welbilt after that, I think). It made really weird bread. The Breadman made excellent bread. The Oster makes great bread too. I've heard very good things about the Zo machines. They are supposed to be excellent. I am sure others will chime in, if they have one.
