In answer to Margaret G. Cope" <mcope@surfglobal.net>, the cheapest and 
also very effective way is to liberally sprinkle baking soda on the 
oven  and then wipe the oven walls with a hot wet cloth. I often leave a 
cloth soaked in hot water and baking soda on the oven floor for 15 minutes 
or so and then wipe it off.
