I always plant a lot of basil in the spring so in the fall I make tons of 
pesto and stock up my freezer. I have found that this makes a great pizza 
topping instead of a tomato based sauce. Our favorite pizza is: pesto 
spread on crust, chicken pieces sauted with garlic, red onions, mushrooms, 
mozzarella cheese and green peppers.

I have also used the same ingredients and replace the chicken and garlic 
with sausage and/or pepperonia.
