I don't care what they say .... I've carried a starter around the country 
and to Korea since 1974 or so and it's different and better than those I've 
been given or started.  It's always lively; it revives after months (one 
friend said a year) of sitting in the refrigerator.  I wouldn't swear that 
the taste is any different than some other strain, but it sure does work 
the best.
