This recipe was shared in this group many years ago by Mary Lou
Meyers. I've made it many times (even in the conventional way since
my bread machine went kaput) and we love it. I am saddened to share
that Mary Lou, or Wizzy as we called her, has since past away.
This recipe is using an automatic bread machine (ABM).
DRIED CHERRY-ALMOND BREAD
1 cup plus 2 Tablespoons milk
1 Tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon orange zest
4 teaspoon sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon salt
3 cup bread flour
2 teaspoon bread machine yeast (*)
----------
1/2 cup dried cherries (*)
1/3 cup slivered almonds-toasted (*)
-------------------------------
This is the order in which to add ingredients (follow machines directions.)
ML's note: I do however, add 1/2 of the cherries//almonds WITH the
flour, and 1/2 at the BEEP.
Sonia's notes: I use SAF yeast for all bread baking, machine or not.
I have made this recipe originally with the dried cherries that ML
sent me from Michigan one year for Christmas. I've also made them
with cranraisins, golden raisins or chopped dried apricots. Instead
of almonds I have also used chopped and toasted macadamia nuts.
YIELD: 1 1/2 lb loaf (ABM) set on Basic cycle - Light crust
