The way that I take bread's temp is to remove it from the pan and insert 
the instant read thermometer straight up into the bottom of the loaf.  The 
top doesn't have a hole in it that way.  If you insert the thermometer 
straight up in the underside rather then into a side then only one or two 
slices will have a hole.
