Getting steam into the oven

Thanks everyone for the ideas!

Yesterday (Sunday) I tried hot tap water in the bottom of the broiler 
pan.  It's very shallow and has a good size and I figured it was 
designed to be in a hot oven empty or nearly so.  The water was gone 
10 minutes into baking and the loaves had good oven spring.

I hadn't thought of putting the water in during heating but will try that too.
