Who knew two of the best bakeries are on Rue Monge? Four years ago we
rented an apartment in Paris. The courtyard opened in the front on to
Place Monge and in the back on to Rue Monge. NOW I read here that we
could have just walked out the back to find some great bakeries! We
did love walking up and down Rue Monge reputed to be the oldest
street in Paris and the original road to Rome) but never purchased
bread there. Instead we took the metro to Poilane a few times. And,
yes, that was worth the trip.
