I've been using the Amish starter for a couple years and have had good luck
with freezing it.
The recipe I use the most is for chocolate cake as follows:
2/3 cup oil (shortening)*
2/3 cup sugar
2/3 cup cocoa
3 eggs
1 cup batter
1-3/4 cup flour
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1-1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup water (3/4 cup)*
Beat together oil, sugar and cocoa.
Beat in eggs one at a time.
Blend in batter.
Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with water and vanilla.
Pour into 2-9" pans (greased and floured).
Bake at 350 for 30 min.
*If you use shortening, increase water.
