Even those of you not experiencing our terrible heat wave may
be interested to know that preheating your oven is not
necessary when baking most pan breads.
I don't know why I never realized this before. It's a blessing
in the summer heat and kinder to the environment and the pocket
book any time of year.
I find that starting in a cold oven only adds about 5 minutes
to the usual baking time.
