In regards to Bone Lazy's suggestion for purchasing welders gloves, I would 
add that's a great idea.  They're not foolproof however.  I use them for 
grilling and barbecuing and I find that they don't heat up as easily, but 
once heated, they take longer to cool down.  Just a hint.
